Whether your business is located in Metro Atlanta or Northwest Georgia finding commercial door hardware can be difficult. Northstar lock and door is your go-to when it comes to hard to find door hardware. You can find most residential hardware at any of the big box stores, but locks for a business or office are not as easy to find. If you are able to find commercial lock hardware somewhere that you can just walk in and purchase it oftentimes it’s not something that will last longer than a few months.
Recently I had a customer come to me with a lock that they had purchased on Amazon. This lock definitely looked the part. It was extremely fancy as you would say. This lock was made to go on a business. I have absolutely no idea where it was manufactured even now. After installing the lock exactly the way it was supposed to be installed it failed. Not a year later, not a month later, 3 days later. The metal that formed the lever handle broke off.
Look at the weight. Although this is not always the case, it tends to be the case with lock hardware. At the end of the day the main expense when it comes to lock hardware is material. The less they use the more they make. The shorter you can expect the part to last. If a lock only lasts 6 months they get to sell you another one in 6 months. We don’t sell locks that last less than 2 years even if the lock on the door is used a thousand times a day.
The quality of commercial lock hardware that is bought off the internet is very hit or miss. But here lately they have redefined garbage. We do not source our lock hardware from Amazon or the places that spit out “overly” cheap lock hardware. Don’t get me wrong we have inexpensive commercial door hardware, but we also warranty it. If you should be in the market for door hardware whether it be a push bar for a storefront door, or a door closer please remember if they don’t warranty it, you don’t want it.
When it comes time to replace or install commercial door hardware just know that the lock hardware that we supply we warranty. We don’t just warranty the lock hardware we warranty the service as well.
